My Beach Bag Essentials – What I need at the Beach for Summer Fun

Summer is the time for fun days at the beach. And every trip needs some items to come along to make you happy. These are my beach bag essentials. Are they yours?Things in my beach bag

Thank you to Energems for sponsoring this post. All opinions are mine.

Los Angeles has so many beaches that are close by.  Today, I headed out to Santa Monica beach for a fun day.

Beach Bag Essentials

Location: Santa Monica, California – Date: June 3, 2016

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m SUPER excited about summer.  One of my absolute favorite things to do during summer is go to the beach!  I have been going quite a bit now that it’s starting to warm up a little, and I wanted to share what I pack in my beach bag with you guys!

I know I’ve gone so many times and forgotten little things, but last time I made a list and want to share it with you!

packing a beach bag

Normally, I’m so excited to get down to the beach that I just grab my towel and swimsuit and run out to the car.  But I have started packing a designated beach bag to bring with me, and that has made my life so much easier.

sunglasses, chap stick, sunscreen and deodorant

The first thing I pack are the products that will protect me from the sun.  It’s so important to take care of our skin.  We only have one body, so we have to protect it!  I grab sunscreen, tanning lotion, sunglasses and Chapstick with built in sunscreen.  Nobody likes getting burned!  I’ve found this combo saves me from that disaster.

I always use sunscreen on my face (because it burns so easily).  At the beginning of the summer I use the sunscreen on my body too, but by the end, once I’ve got a little bit of a tan, I’ll use the tanning lotion.  I ALWAYS use the sunscreen chapstick, because having burnt lips is the absolute worst!

swim suites and cover ups

The next thing I make sure to bring are my clothing options.  I normally start out to the beach wearing whatever clothes I want for the day, and I bring my swimsuit to change into at the beach. I also always bring a thick sweater and scarf, because I like to stay for the sunset, and as soon as the sun goes down it gets so chilly!

My body temperature is always freezing, so it’s good to have something snuggly and warm for when the temperature drops.

I find that if I bring these clothing options, I’m never in need of anything else!

Something new that I’ve added to my beach bag recently are bottles of Energems!  I just found out about these, and they are the thing my bag has been missing.

They’re little chocolate chews filled with energy.  Three Energems have the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.  I don’t know about you, but I never want to be drinking hot coffee on the beach, and I always need more energy – these little Energems solve that problem!

If you’re like me and you haven’t heard of these energy supplements before, you’re in for a treat.  And the best thing, even though the caffeine equals a cup, but they don’t give you the energy crash that coffee does.

I have been chewing them for about a week now, and can honestly stand behind them and say they do not make you jittery or give you a crash in the middle of the day.  PLUS you can carry them around with you because the bottles are really small.

The recommended serving size is three Energems, but you can take either one, two or three depending on what your body responds best to (I like taking two).

books and journals

Now that I’m not dosing off all the time at the beach, I make sure to bring plenty of options for things to do.  I like to bring a couple book options (because I’m never sure what I’ll want when I get there).

Right now I’m reading Concussion (because I can’t wait for football season to be back), the first book in the Gunslinger series (my boyfriend recommended it to me) and How To Be Lost (because I found it at one of the Little Free Libraries at the beach)!

I also bring my 52 Lists Journal because I’m obsessed with it, and some music to listen to.

I’m so happy that I could share with you what I pack for a beach trip.  It was always so discouraging to go to the beach and realize I’d forgotten something.  That’s why I’m sharing this list with you!  If I can stop you from forgetting some beach day items, I’d be so thrilled!

I have a relatively large bag that a friend gave me ages ago, so I can fit everything in it with no problem! I hope this guide has been helpful for you in making a list of what to put in your own beach bag!

Let me know in the comments what your beach bag essentials are!  I’d love to hear from you!
