When I went abroad to study in the UK one of the things that was surprisingly different was the alcohol. Of course I knew the accents, food, and scenery would be different, but I guess I just didn’t plan on the alcohol being different. Pimms was a drink that I’d only ever heard of in the UK, so when I saw this recipe for and English Summer Cooler with Earl Grey & Bloom Gin, which the author described as an “alternative to Pimms for gin drinkers”, I got nostalgic. And while it’s titled as a summer drink, I honestly think it would be great all year round!
300ml (10 oz) Cold Brewed Earl Grey Tea
50ml (3 1/2 tbsp) Bloom Gin
150ml (5 oz) Lemonade
Small handful torn mint
1 inch Cucumber, thinly sliced
1/4 Lemon, thinly sliced
Small Handful Strawberries, sliced
The best part about this cocktail, is even though it’s got quite a few ingredients, the only thing you have to do to prepare it is put all the ingredients together and let sit in the fridge for about an hour so the alcohol can flavor the fruit, then serve!
