Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice – I’ts Pumpkin Everything Time!
Fall is here and the leaves are changing. You know what that means? It’s everything pumpkin time! This pumpkin pie spice is my homemade version of the bottled kind that the stores sell. It’s super easy to make.
I love how, during fall, everything has a hint of pumpkin. I’ve been seeing recipes all over the place that call for ‘pumpkin pie spice’, and I thought, now what the heck is pumpkin pie spice?
Making homemade pumpkin pie spice
I did some research and found that all you need are some common spices that most of us have in our homes. It is so easy to make, and will save you running out to the store to get pumpkin pie spice. You probably have all the ingredients in your pantry.
All you need are cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice and ground cloves. See the recipe card below for amounts. You can also double up the recipe to make plenty for later!
You just mix the spices up in a bowl and put in any airtight container you’d like. I recommend using an old spice jar that you’ve cleaned out!
Heading out to a Halloween potluck? Why not use this spice to make a pumpkin dessert?
Hope you enjoy making all the fall pumpkin recipes with your new homemade spice!
Admin note: This post for homemade pumpkin pie spice first appeared on the blog in October of 2013. I have updated it to add new photos and a printable recipe card.
