I blog because I love writing – it’s always been a huge passion of mine. I don’t do it because I earn money from it, but rather more for the pleasure of writing about what I love – mindfulness, meditation, crystal healing, and any other tips I can share with my readers.
Sure, it’s great to see a surprise deposit to my bank account from an affiliate payment, but compared to the hours I spend creating content, it’s not really “making” money. I’ve even heard some people call it “welfare for bloggers”.
I do think that in order to make the best use of the time I spend doing what I love (blogging), that I should make use of affiliate programs to recommend the things I love as well. This does provide me with a tiny bit of income – and it also helps my readers to find products they may love too!
The display ads and other style ads in the sidebar help pay for part of the internet connection needed to write the blog.
Also when you click on certain affiliate links in some of my posts on this site, I make a small percentage here and there when you purchases something from the site during your visit there (but the price is the same for you). Please know that if I post an affiliate link to a product, it is something that I personally use, support and would recommend without an affiliate link.
One of the major sites that I am an affiliate for is Amazon and I hope to look into some other services as well.
I also work with brands to promote their products through creating sponsored posts. When I write a sponsored post, it is because I believe in the brand that I am promoting, not solely because they pay me a fee to include them in my blog pots. I always disclose when a post is sponsored.
Thanks so much for reading Jess Explains It All and if you ever decide to purchase something through any of my affiliate links, thank you also for helping support my site!
