Falling for Black and White as Autumn Approaches

I love September because for me it signifies the start of fall.  I did a quick google search, and found out that the first day of fall is September 23 – and even though that’s still a little ways out, I am definitely starting to feel the cool fall vibes approaching. In fact, I’m falling for black and white!

I love this time of year, because mother nature provides a break from the sweltering heat she’d been serving up all summer long.  It’s the time of the year when trees start to change and everyone gets excited about the holidays.

And while I really do love those aspects of fall, there may be one thing I love more…the chance to finally break out my fall wardrobe!  Goodbye daisy dukes, and hello maxi skirts!

Today I went over to my friend Jen’s neighborhood (thank you Jen!) and she snapped a few photos my first fall outfit!  I love to wear black (who doesn’t love a slimming color?!), and I thought wearing a black and white outfit would be a good way to kick off fall.

Since the pattern on the skirt is so bold, I tried to keep the rest of the outfit simple.  I threw on a black long sleeved T-shirt and some black flats to match the black and white theme.

I grabbed a small black clutch that I got as a gift a few years ago.  The thing I love about vintage accessories like this clutch, is that they’re coming full circle!

If I’m not mistaken I think this bag was from the 70’s, but it looks like anything you would find in a store now.  It’s so fun to recycle old styles.

All the jewelry in this outfit is from my mum’s jewelry shop, Vintage Jewelry Lane.  When I was younger I worked for her helping out where I could, and as payment she let me take my pick from the jewelry (can you say lucky duck or what!?).

Over the years I’ve gotten some really neat pieces, including the two sterling silver rings and necklace I wore for this outfit.

The last accessory in my black and white outfit is this beige fedora.  I know, I know, I know, it’s not black and white – but it’s soooooo close.

It’s a great addition to my black and white outfit, and will keep me warm as the weather drops even more!  It gives my outfit a little bit of a hipster vibe, which is really appropriate since we took these photos in Los Feliz!

I’m so excited that the weather is dropping enough to pull out some fun fall outfits – it’s even got me falling for black and white!  (hehehe get it? “Fall”ing? I’m so pun-ny!)

This is just my absolute favorite time of year.  It won’t be long before all the fall recipes start circulating Pinterest, and you starting seeing infinity scarves matched with knee high suede boots (yessssss).

Let me tell you, I cannot wait for a pumpkin spice latte…Oh, fall, I’m so excited you’re back!
